The United States is focused on transforming its healthcare system by providing high-quality, safe, affordable, and accessible care. There is a need for a future system that intentionally promotes wellness by disease prevention and the reliability of outcomes. To this end, interprofessional collaboration and coordination have become the norm to ensure the healthcare departments maximize their knowledge, skills, and expertise. Nursing education is also a major factor in determining whether this dream will come true. This essay analyzes the importance of nursing education and a review of my personal goals as a nurse.
A degree in nursing can open up numerous opportunities to work with children, adults, or the elderly. Most nurses become registered nurses with a qualification of bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). In the job market, such a qualification can help me acquire a position in acute care nursing. This department is concerned with taking care of critically ill patients by providing them with individualized care. Such responsibilities can stretch from collecting blood samples to taking care of patients in an emergency. For instance, a burn unit nurse can use individuals with a nursing degree qualification to stabilize the burn victims.
After my nursing degree, I intend to pursue a career as an MD medical doctor. I have already completed the four years required to get a bachelor's degree in nursing. Consequently, I look forward to another four years to learn what it takes to become a medical doctor. It is my goal to be involved in every aspect of my patient's health care journey. A medical doctor is concerned with helping the patient restore their optimum health. Therefore, my input will be required in testing, assessments, prescribing medication, and creating treatment plans. I believe that my personality is well suited for the responsibility that comes with being a medical doctor. I have excellent communication skills and relish collaborations with other individuals to ensure an accurate outcome is reached.
The future in nursing is heavily reliant on education to shape the next generation of practitioners. It encourages the nurses to peruse knowledge which will give them a wide range of competence. Therefore, an individual needs to increase education to keep up with the competition from the get-go. A degree in nursing allows me to carry out significant roles in the survival of patients; however, increasing the qualifications to MD will enable one to be more impactful.
