Curriculum preparation for college and career readiness is essential for students to attain the right mix of skills, knowledge, and experience. Charles County’s curriculum slightly differs from the surrounding areas, and private schools tend to have more rigorous high school programs. On the other hand, high schools in rural areas and poor urban communities tend to be underfunded, which affects the quality of education and preparedness in colleges and universities. The research method helps provide insights into how the students construct the meaning of their learning perceptions and experience and their future aspirations.
Attributes of the Qualitative Methodology
Recruiting students and collecting data from diverse pool respondents and populations and recruitment also depend on reaching the responders. There are open-ended interviewing methods that explore topics in-depth and get a deeper understanding. The ability to understand respondent opinions is essential to use the qualitative method to study the topic. The respondents are asked the same questions. Based on the responses, there is also a focus on the contextual factors, experiences, and perceptions in the research on curriculum, career preparation, and career learning.
The methodology is useful for collecting data from interviews and follow-up interviews on curriculum preparation for college and careers. There is a comparison of the responses, and the findings provide insights on college and career readiness based on curriculum preparation. It is necessary to align high school curriculum and courses with post-secondary courses to prepare them for high school and future careers. However, the students also require high skill levels to succeed in colleges and universities (Castellano et al., 2017). Data is synthesized after data collection. This is useful as there are different perceptions about the curriculum’s effectiveness in promoting readiness and the overall experiences for those who have gone through different curriculum programs.
The qualitative method considers the students’ and educators’ perspectives, and understanding their perspectives is helpful to know more about the influence of current education experience on future education prospects and career development.
