PREPARING FOR THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT PROJECTS
Component 1:
You will explain your vision of the ideal learning environment for the age and subject you intend to teach in a professionally written and typed paper using correct grammar and spelling. Use the response template Download response template to respond to each question. Your submission should be 3 – 5 pages. (12-point font, double spaced)
1. How do you create and maintain a mutually respectful and collaborative class of actively engaged learners? Include how you respond to student needs and incorporate student strengths and personal experiences.
2. What strategies will you use to build relationships with your students?
3. How will you physically organize the classroom to ensure flexibility and accommodate the learning needs of all students including those with disabilities? Consider things such as the three zones of proximity and furniture.
4. Explain how your behavior management plan (see below) supports this vision.
Support the strategies you choose with research. For example, you could say something like “According to the work of Dr. I.M. Authority, primary students need structure to feel secure. Therefore, our day will be structured in the following ways...” Please note that you will not pass the project if you do not properly cite your research. You can use any recognized style format (APA, MLA, Chigago) with which you are comfortable.

Procedures for at least 3 common classroom tasks (Examples: handing back graded work, turning in make-up work, handing out materials, going to lunch, sharpening a pencil, etc.) Once you are teaching you will have more than 3. These should be fully explained and able to be followed by the target age group.
Include the expectations for student behavior

TARGETED GRADE LEVEL: Elementary

Explain your vision of the ideal learning environment for the age and subject you intend to teach in a 3 – 5 page original paper. You must answer the questions below, using a 12-point font and double-spaced. Then, complete the behavior management plan that supports your vision using the form provided.
1 How do you create and maintain a mutually respectful and collaborative class of actively engaged learners? Include how it responds to student needs and incorporates student strengths and personal experiences. You must use research to support your selection of these strategies and identify and explain the research.
There are various approaches to designing and sustaining a mutually collaborative and respectful classroom of increasingly active students. Achieving this goal at the elementary level in a physical education class requires strategies such as creating trusting relationships, behaving ethically, and using explicit instruction techniques.
Creating Trusting Relationships
Creating a trusting relationship is associated with a collaborative and respectful class of engaged learners. Indeed, according to Waterford.Org (2019), various learner issues can be resolved by trusting relationships, especially chronic absenteeism and lack of motivation. In this case, chronic absenteeism is now common among learners and has significant implications for successful learning. During the early stages of schooling, this type of absenteeism is a predictor of dropping out in the later stages of schooling. With escalating absenteeism, the chances of establishing a solid relationship become challenging to remedy with time. Meanwhile, learners who have had adverse experiences with adults may have challenges trusting teachers. This trust is also lost when learners have had negative experiences with teachers before. Building trusting relationships becomes a means of engaging learners to make them love class, become motivated, and participate actively in class. Ideally, trusting relationships provide opportunities for teachers to be viewed by students as a mentor and become involved in classroom activities. Learners who know teachers care about them become motivated to learn and succeed academically.
Behaving Ethically
Another significant step in achieving this goal is behaving ethically. This strategy is also another means to earn student trust. According to Cooper (2019), behaving ethically serves as a framework for the interests of teachers and students can be safeguarded. Behaving ethically needs to valorize various principles, including confidentiality, conflict of interest, honesty, and responsibility. Fulfilling the ethical requirements entails observing sociocultural values. In doing so, the teacher becomes placed to provide student-centered learning. The failure to uphold ethical values creates a host of issues that jeopardize learning goals, including creating a conflict of interest and mistrust that hurts mutually respectful and collaborative relationships.
Explict instruction techniques
The use of explicit instruction techniques also has a place in fostering and maintaining a mutually collaborative and respectful classroom of active students. Accordin...
