  1. Write a 2 paragraph discussion a piece of a 2D piece of visual visual culture. This can include films and animations, but not music, or any other form of performing arts

  5. In the second paragraph, discuss whether the work is fine art, popular culture, kitsch or craft and describe why. Use the textbook to help and the Chapter 14 mini-lecture to inform your discussion. 

  6. Respond to one classmate where you discuss an element or principle that has not been discussed by your classmates yet. Refer to the Key Terms. Be specific. Do not only agree with your classmate or restate what has already been said. Add something new to the conversation and be specific. (100 words minimum)

  7. The work you discuss cannot be found in Chapter 14.  No two pieces in the forum should be the same.

Guernica is a 1937 painting (oil on canvas) by the legendary Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. The black and white oil painting represents the cruelty of war following the German bombing of the Guernica city in the Basque region of Spain. The 3.49 by 7.77 m painting is found in the Museo Nacional Centro De Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid.
