Concert Report
Live concerts are meant to give the audience a live feel of the performance. While they are meant to deliver a specific message, they are also meant to be entertaining. Analysis of these seven pieces reveals the diverse functions of these performances that are espoused in the different characteristics of the performances.
ZAGREB KOM 2 • Bedřich Smetana: Piano Trio - 3rd mov.
The performance begins with an allegro tempo with a loud piano that suddenly softens up with the tempo remaining the same. Smetana, who is the conductor, in this case, showcases his talent in putting his command of traditional techniques to a strong emotional effect. As the piano beat slow down, it is countered with violin, which then rises together giving the sound a chord where the instruments sound simultaneously. The performance features a series of falling intervals, especially the interval of the descending firth, which predominates in the themes and suggests the sounds of weeping.
Farkas:"Ugrós" performed by the Borealis Wind Quintet
The performance happens on a pavement with guard rails, trees and buildings visible in the background. It begins with two men blowing their flutes in a moderato tempo. The performance takes an improvised form in which the performers become sound. Their appearance and disappearance are accompanied by a similar appearance and disappearance of the sound in the performance. This art of improvisation presents human begins as musical beings. Despite the musical context, the art bestows the full responsibility of the music being performed on the people making it. Therefore, the performers of the music play a major role in how it is delivered especially in terms of harmony, rhythm, and melody.
Rimsky-KorsakovFlight of the Tuba Bumblebee - Canadian Brass
The performance takes place in a theatre, with a narration from the conductor, who then ushers in the performers. The actual performance commences with the quintet slowly parading themselves inform of the crowd and beginning with a slow tune played in consonance. The tune comes as a triad, in which two tones are involved with one building on the other. After their performance, the leading performer moves in front as the rest of the team retreat and then sets up his performance at an allegro tempo. As he performs, the rest of the members harmoniously join in, forming a chord of the performance. The performance ends on a high note, and the performers bow before the audience.
