Socrates of Athens is known to be the father of Western philosophy. He provided the basis for all philosophy. His exploratory journey began when the Oracle of Delphi apprised that he was the man who possessed the most wisdom on earth. In a bid to refute the claims, he set about on a career in which his curiosity drove him to ask questions about those that were deemed to be prudent (Geuss, 2017). The questions, mostly based on morality and ethics, drove him to unearth ultimate causes which helped him better comprehend reality. His efforts proved futile because he established the oracle accurately! And this is how he came to be the wisest man since he did not profess to know anything of significance.
