In what sense can African diplomacy be described as ‘activist’ when it comes to the issue of development?
When it comes to the aspect of development, African diplomacy can be described as "activist." Specifically, African diplomacy has significantly changed the African states' international relations with the rest of the world. Indeed, it acts as a catalyst for development. Since African countries gained independence, they have consistently campaigned for equality. Due to the good relationship that African states have created with the West and other nations, these countries have benefited through industrialization. Resources obtained from African states have played a significant role in accelerating industrialization in developing and developed countries. African diplomacy has enabled African countries to eliminate exploitative financial and trade relations. Additionally, many African countries have avoided the indignity that comes from creditors when they are heavily indebted. They are capitalizing on the new trade opportunities that further foster development in Africa.
