(Models). The Budd and Zagelmeyer article looks at four different models of employee relationships. The models of the employment relationship include conflict/critical theory, unitarist, pluralist, and egoist. I think the most useful model of employment relationships from an employee perspective is the unitarist model (Budd, 2009). Comparatively, the unitarist model triumphs over other models, such as the egoist, that focuses on treating employees as commodities. The focus in a unitarist approach includes considerable labor from a psychological point of view. In this regard, the employer and employee are exposed to considerable levels of understanding often championed by departments such as human resource management that institute efficient compensation and benefits such as flexible work schedules, training and development opportunities, and insurance, among others (Budd, 2009). The stakeholders, including management and staff, embrace a shared interest that invites collaboration, which benefits both parties.
