Protestantism is a religious movement that started in Europe in the 16th century. Protestantism started as a reaction to medieval Roman Catholic practices and doctrines. With the assistance of Eastern Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism, Protestantism became a significant force of Christianity. Protestantism spread throughout the world after various religious wars from the 16th century to the 19th century. With time, this religious movement influenced people's cultural, social, political, and economic lives. With time, leaders emerged from different regions. There were various reforms made regarding the spread of Protestantism in Europe. Ulrich Zwingli is an example of a leader who is remembered because of the protestant reformation. On various occasions, he challenged Martin Luther regarding the existence of the ritual of communion. This is because Luther followed the teaching of Jesus Christ, while Ulrich Zwingli claimed that the ritual was symbolic.
The protestant reform of Ulrich Zwingli prevailed in regions like Switzerland, France, and Italy. The leader of this movement felt that teachings from the Catholic Church led Christians astray.
