Civil Disobedience
Civil disobedience refers to the use of peaceful protests and boycotts to enforce the mitigation of specific laws. The acts of civil disobedience were performed by Antigone in the "Sophocles Antigone" by Ruby Blondell and Martin Luther King in the "Letter from Birmingham Jail." Antigone and Martin Luther King both saw the deliberate discrimination and injustices in the laws of their time (Niesen, p.32). Thus, they had to engage in social disobedience to fix the unjust part of the law that directly affected them and their people. This paper assesses the risks, consequences, dangers, advantages, and disadvantages of utilizing civil disobedience to challenge injustice.
Though civil disobedience my appeal as a viable way of challenging injustice, it comes with many potential dangers and consequences.
