Given the need to improve the quality of life for Heart Failure (HF) patients, a telephone-intervention program was established. This program was designed to promote as well as enhance patient care behavior and lifestyle management. It involved nurses and patients whereby nurses attended to patients for 16 weeks. The 50 patients, both male and female, were randomly into 2. Accordingly, there was a control group and another consisting of patients who were subjected to the telephone-intervention. The result was improved quality of life for the HP patients and reduction in total healthcare costs for the intervention group.
The research question focuses on determining the impact of telephone-intervention on the quality of life of HF patients. This is to be conducted with the help of nurses since they are likely to be knowledgeable on matters of heart failure and how to manage it. Telephone-intervention is a suitable option given that it has an impact on activities which affect a patient's quality of life. Accordingly, it would improve the quality of life for a HF patient by influencing their emotional status as well as their ability to manage symptoms. Furthermore, the research question focuses on a specific group (HF patients) and is carried out in a particular location so as to provide consistent results.
