Executive Summary
Over the years, there has been an improved discussion regarding healthcare. One reason has been that most people value their health more, and increased healthcare conditions have prompted more patients to seek healthcare facilities. Even though healthcare facilities are helping to address the healthcare conditions, there are some healthcare complaints. One of the reasons that has prompted these complaints is fewer nurses attending to the patients. This shortage has caused increased patient-to-staff patients. Since the nurses feel threatened, it has compromised the quality of treatment they give these patients, thereby threatening their safety. These complaints have prompted the need to employ policies that could help address these problems and improve healthcare. The best policy that can help improve psychiatric patients' health conditions is employing more outreach teams to work collaboratively with the nurses. This process will reduce the shortage of nurses since these outreach teams will do some of the work. However, employing the policy has been faced with some challenges. The common challenges include inadequate resources, lack of support from authorities and healthcare professionals, and poor communication with the stakeholders.
Introduction of Problem /Policy
Even though nurses have complained about the current policy, which has understaffed them, minimal measures have been taken to solve this condition. This problem has exposed the nurses to violence-related risks. An increase in security risk has increased the risk of nurse turnover, as shown in Figure 2 in Appendix 2. This environment is affecting the quality of service the patients receive. Some individuals and psychiatric patients have even started losing faith in these healthcare institutions. Despite this problem, the change has been delayed due to inadequate resources, some authorities failing to support change, a lack of support from healthcare providers, and poor communication, causing misinformation.
One common challenge in implementing the policy is the lack of adequate resources. For example, to implement the policy, finances are needed since the policy will require funds to succeed (Posel et al., 2021). However, there are instances where some healthcare facilities need more funds to actualize the process. The lack of funds has prompted the facility to compromise the quality of the process by choosing a cheaper one. Moreover, there is a delay in the policy implementation as the individuals involved in policy implementation look for ways to secure the funds. The lack of resources could challenge the policy implementation process.
The other challenge in the policy of improving healthcare is the lack of support from the
