Obesity is a condition in which the body has excess accumulation of fat which is detrimental to health. According to the article Obesity and Overweight, WHO records that the level of obesity has tripled since mid-1970s. By 2016, the number of adults that were estimated to be overweight was 1.9 billion people, with more than 650 million of them being obese. This number coincided with 340 million children and adolescents in the same year. WHO accounts the rapid increase in obesity rates to the high intake of foods that have a lot of sugar and fats, as well as increased physical idleness as people do much of their work and transportation while in a state of dormancy?
