Description

The most common mistake in papers – by far – is failure to answer the question. Be sure to review the grading rubric to ensure that you answer all required parts. As a teacher, I need to see that you can apply the information we are learning in class. I strongly recommend that you include the wording of the question in the body of your paper, and then make sure you answer the question or address the topic.

For example:

The second assignment asks you to: “Inform the staff of the two issues (from the topics provided) your organization is facing.” Your answer should begin something like this: “Our organization is facing a staff shortage and influx of Influx of Registry, Part-Time, and Temporary Contract Staff. This is an important issue in health care because…. ”

Then the assignment asks you to: “Describe the impact of these issues on your department.” Again, your answer should begin something like this: “These issues will have a direct impact on our department. Then explain how ….”

Then the assignment asks you to: “Describe how improved communication, collaboration, and teamwork can improve conditions in your department.” Again, your answer should begin something like this: “Improved communication, collaboration, and teamwork can improve conditions in our department by…”

Finally the assignments asks you to: “Identify at least two examples from the required or recommended readings of techniques found to foster inclusion and improve communication and collaboration.” Be sure to include the required examples.

All papers in this class have multiple parts. Make sure you clearly and distinctly address each question asked. THIS IS THE FIRST THING I LOOK FOR. IF YOU DON’T CLEARLY AND DISTINCTLY ANSWER THE QUESTIONS YOU WILL NOT EARN A PASSING GRADE ON THE PAPER.

I’ll repeat: Clearly and distinctly address all questions asked. If the reader has to read a paper multiple times to discern answers then the reader will assume you are not answering the question - or you are unable to follow instructions. Always start a new paragraph when you begin addressing the next question. Readers like clarity.

If you clearly address every question in the assignment, and your answers incorporate course material and your own critical thinking (written at a college level), then it’s almost impossible not to earn an “A.” This is a point of emphasis.

Please make sure you use paragraphs to break up your thoughts. Papers should consist of multiple paragraphs, especially when you are addressing a new part of the assignment. (See above.) Papers with huge blocks of text will be graded harshly.

And the basics:

* Write at a college level, which means you should check for spelling, grammar, sentence structure and word-use. HOW we write matters. This is a point of emphasis.

* Always use a title page that includes your name, date, assignment title and course.

* Use 12-point type.
Times New Roman

* Double space – NEVER single space

* Cite references in the body of the paper and use the last page as a reference page

* Be sure to include an introduction and thesis statement

* Don’t go too far over the word count. There's no need to ask rhetorical questions or give unneeded background. Just fully answer the questions

*PLEASE NOTE: scholarly references are journal articles for the GCU Library, websites such as the Joint Commission can be used but please do not use webpages or blogs as a scholarly reference as these do not meet the standard of a scholarly reference

Please acknowledge that you read this and let me know if you have any questions.

Issues in the Organization
The healthcare field is one of the most controversial sectors that is oftentimes exploited because of the reasoning that these professionals have taken an oath to protect and to take care of their patients and that they will answer any call related to the field. Because of this maltreatment, healthcare professionals commenced labor unions, organizations, and advocacy groups to express their apprehensions and to prevent neglect.
The majority of the healthcare system is comprised of nurses. Their misgivings are often unheard and unanswered. Despite these circumstances, they must continue to voice out their concerns until authorities and policymakers respond to them.
Some of the issues include staff shortage, which involves all members of the medical team such as the physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and ancillary services, and poor performance results leading to a reduction in Medicare reimbursement.
Impact of the Issues
There is an international shortage of healthcare workers, and this state can get worse drastically. The World Health Organization predicted that there might be around 18 million shortage of healthcare workers by 2030. This is more than two times the shortfall approximated in 2013, which is only at 7 million. This condition was reiterated more than a decade ago in the World Health Report 2006: working together for health, which explained that this worldwide shortfall could lead to a crisis that is very evident today (Darzi & Evans, 2016).
The shortage of any of the healthcare professionals can lead to a poorer quality of care for the patients. Tsolekile, Abrahams-Gessel, & Puoane (2015) reveals that the shortage of healthcare workers increased the difficulty of task-shifting. Due to this, healthcare professionals, especially nurses, tend to be overworked and stressed that might lead to mental health issues, and eventually, harm patient safety.
Hall, Johnson, Watt, et al. (2016) supported this statement. They found out that the poorer the well-being of the healthcare workers, the higher the self-reported errors in the hospital setting. Their study revealed that 16.6% and 3.7% of all hospital in-patient incidents in Australia and the United States respectively precede dangerous adverse effects. Moreover, one in twenty prescriptions is inaccurate. These errors have caused the National Health Service (United Kingdom) £1.3 billion worth of lawsuits and £2 billion additional bed days yearly. Undervaluing the healthcare workers' well-being, characterized by depression, apprehension, increased levels of burnout, and poor quality of life and stress, can result to an increased number of hospital incidences (Hall, Johnson, Watt et al., 2016)
These contexts are related to the second issue, which is poor performance results leading to a reduction in Medicare reimbursement. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) compelled directives averting healthcare refund for medical conditions that were poorly taken care of (Cassidy, 2015). Additionally, poor performance can result in longer patient hospital stays, which can inflict detrimental perpetual injuries t...
