Days had merrily passed by before the students wrapped up all their belongings to head for the summer holiday. It was a fleeting moment for most of the students."Grrrrrr, grrrrrr" Peter’s clock was yelling out to him. It was 5:00 am in the morning. The time he used to go for his morning run. He was a strict timekeeper who valued each and every second of the day. Similar to his single dad, Mr. Mc Gregory, a fruitful and renowned businessman. Peter reached for his peach colored earphones and his iPhone before crawling himself slowly out of his cozy bed. He carefully made his bed and wore his blue running shoes before heading out for a run (Rachel, 2012).
The cold air outside was stinging his nostrils as he raced. His best music, ‘Don’t try so hard’ by AmyGrant, which he had selected for running, was sounding horrible on this particular morning. For him, the break for summer holiday was never a good thing. He knew he had to start working in his father’s company. Although some might find this very enticing, for him, it was quite the opposite which was as clear as day and night. According to him, his dad never approved and congratulated him for his best performance. He was always criticizing him for his work, he severally put him down in front of his colleagues and friends and always saw and thought of the worst in him. He couldn’t focus anymore on his running, so he decided to rest for a while on a mahogany bench nearby.
From a distance, he noticed a beautiful lady. Her silky brown hair moved meticulously across her back as she ran. Her steps were calculated and she seemed to be enjoying each and every moment. His eyes were fixed on her like glue to a paper such that he did not realize when she stopped in front of him. "Ummm, hello Grace," he uttered this words like a stammerer. They had been friends when they were little. Grace's mother was Peter's family cook before the unfortunate demise of Grace's dad that made them move to a cheaper house and neighborhood. In Pre-school they had studied together and Grace had encouraged Peter to study hard to make a difference in society by curbing the rich-poor difference. It had been a long time since they last saw each other. “Hello," she answered back in a hasty tone as if she was running out of breath. Uninvitingly, she joined him on the bench.
“I did not know if you run every morning to maintain this angelic figure of yours,” Peter unthoughtfully started a conversation. To some extent, he had sounded like a pervert to a childhood friend who was now a gorgeous lady. Yeah, I do run every morning for fun. I never considered running to maintain to keep my body shape, but I guess it's a good idea that I ought to consider." She answered with a smiley face and a welcoming tone. He was surprised and at the same time attracted to the jovial nature of this amazing lady sitting next to him. He could not get to understand why such good people had to be poor and still satisfied. At some point, when he was young, he had thought of running away from his uncaring, well-decorated home to live in an o...
