Healthy eating habits should be a discipline that everyone vitally embraces. Having a healthy community and society guarantees future security in terms of production and progress. The gauge for any national development is closely tied to the health status of its citizen in the embracement of healthy eating habits. The ability to have various nutritive foods from different production areas is also a measure of a healthy civilization. Overriding the traditional habits and customs that constrained society into only one type of meal should be termed obsolete by incorporating newly developed healthy foods. Malnutrition should be a menace that should be criticized and mitigated by all means by abolishing the soul food habits and incorporating diverse food species.
The film "Soul Food Junkies" is a making-up call to embrace various diverse cultural foods from different societies. The producer, Byron Hurt, depicts the African American community's eating habits. The Africans were subjected to only one type of food provided during the slavery periods. He tries to explain the origin of the soul food by tracing back to the ancient Africans. He uses the soul food phrase to indicate that food and healthy eating curs along even the political divide. As an activist, Byron hurt proceeds further to show the extent of the need to have a proper food acquisition process through industrialization and the security and safety of foods being produced. Through the high poverty levels within the African America natives, the people are incapable of even raising a good meal and only feed on similar foods.
