Introduction: Background Information, Establishment, Style and Summary
The story of Girlfriends begins with the appearance of Susan Weinblatt, an aspiring photographer, who shoots baby pictures and bar mitzvahs for exhibiting in a gallery. The character shares the living with her best friend, Anne Munroe, who appeared to be an aspiring writer. The change in life occurred once Susan decided to surpass the magazines, portraits and wedding photography for exploring other opportunities. However, the transition broke her into pieces when Anne decided to move out and marry Martin, Anne’s boyfriend, which halted Susan from selling photographs completely.
As the story progressed, Susan developed a love interest towards Rabbi Gold, a character that works at bar mitzvahs and weddings. Susan felt intimate towards Rabbi until she accidentally discovers her wife and son, which dented the relationship between the two. However, Susan managed to get her separate art show and to make a boyfriend, Eric. Susan and Eric ended up fighting on the maintenance of her apartment later in the movie. However, the relationship between Susan and Anne even got disturbed due to jealousy. In the climax, Susan visits Anne in the countryside, which exhibited Anne apologizing for her absence in the gallery exhibition and revealing about the abortion of the child. The movie concludes by showing the two female characters drinking tequila and playing games before the arrival of Martin.

Analysis
The movie was a masterpiece in redefining the American culture back in the late 70s or early 80s. In personal opinion, Girlfriends established a credible image for American women and assisted in repositioning the social roles of feminine at an ideal span significantly.
Further, the cinematic image of Girlfriends proved a breakthrough for women seeking equal rights and gender equality at workplaces. Back in the 70s, picturing women in organizations or career hunts was an impossible depiction of traditional American society. Particularly in the middle-class, women were not encouraged to seeking career opportunities as compared to men, which was one of the social taboos for the USA as a nation.
The script of the movie is presented in a realistic manner. The struggle of two independent young women in America is demonstrated ideally in the form of stress, hardships, and shared with mutual understanding between Susan and Anne. The bar scene having Anne sharing her experience with the love interest demons...
