Introduction
The Rickshaw Boy presents a medieval life in China where there is a struggle for attaining freedom. The storyline concentrates on a story of a boy from a rural area who wants to attain freedom by moving in an urban area. The movie depicts a historical past of the People’s Republic of China, showing the significance of Dynasty rules. Having a rough security force in ancient China makes it difficult for people to live a normal life. There is a constant fear of brutality, oppression, and abuse from the authorities. The abusive mechanisms of security forces led by corrupt leaders generated widespread poverty incidence rates. The movie shows the significance of struggle and failure affecting the main characters.
Plot
The main cast of the movie is Xiang Zi, which is a boy from Rickshaw. Xiang Zi always dreamt of attaining freedom ever since he was at a young age. When he grew up, he starts looking up for a job in order for him to become productive. He then marries Hu Niu to start a new family. However, Hu Niu died of dystocia following a failure in delivering a baby. Xiang Zi met Xiao Fuzi and given another chance to love again. Poverty became a challenge for the couple, forcing Xiang Zi to work hard for their future. However, Xiao Fuzi discovers his partner died from health and security factors. Xiang Zi then surrenders to a dark society due to multiple failures in life.
