Reaction The video De-escalation techniques for new RN’s Part 1 by Sarah Lorenzini presents constructive information about dealing with challenging nurse-patient interactions. It explores different concepts that reflect professional nursing practice for problem-solving. Thus, I found it informative and significantly impactful in dealing with diversified situations in my future practice. Various scenarios explored in the video remind me of encountering an aggressive patient during a hospital ward round. While in the process, a patient became verbally abusive and unwilling to listen. Now that I have learned the techniques of de-escalating such events, I understand the value of remaining calm, maintaining eye contact, and reassuring the patients that I acknowledge their discomfort to unravel the source of their anger.
