Please watch the assigned video and complete the assessment as thoroughly as possible. You may have to watch more than once. The expectation is that you do an assessment on the patient depicted on the video. It is not always possible to address everything by watching the video just as you would likely not be able to address everything during an assessment with a real patient. If unable to assess tell me but part of the grade will be based on the thoroughness of the assessment.

Appearance:
Approximate age, race, gender, dress, is dress appropriate to situation, grooming, approximate height and weight. Describe the patient as you would describe a photograph with as much detail as possible

Gerald is a middle-aged, white guy, probably in his mid to late twenties. He has apparently been brought to the psychiatrist by his mother. He is wearing a t-shirt and a trousers. He is more or less dressed casually, hence easy to fit anywhere. However, he makes a mistake by putting on his earphones, something that doesn’t augur well for the occasion. It might b interpreted wrongly as a symbol of dissatisfaction and lack of interest.

Speech:
Note patterns, tone of voice, use of slang, flow of speech, volume, slurring? pressured?, monosyllabic responses?, etc.

On analyzing his speech, he is clearly slow and drags along words. Unless a person understands his situation, he might be perceived to be joking and not serious with his responses.

Motor Activity:
Note pacing, gestures, tics, tremors, gait, body language, etc.

He is pacing around and looks unsettled with everything, constantly tying knots with his hair.

Mood:
Prominent, sustained, overall emotion: euthymic, euphoric, dysphoric, and explain.

His mood is mixed and varies from absolute euphoric to dysphoric, where he seems to be in a state of unease.

Affect:
Note facial expression, vocal fluctuations, gestures, Describe range, appropriateness, stability, intensity, etc.
