Leadership and power play a substantial role in the ability of the employees to achieve organizational goals. Through leadership and power, the employees are able to get advocacy, influence, and authenticity which motivates them to focus on their work. People have different traits that enable them to become good leaders. As well, the strategy of leading people has an impact on the level with which the subordinates will be comfortable with the leadership.
There are various ways of managing conflicts and therefore, having good problem-solving skills is a desirable trait that a leader should have. Good problem-solving skills enable a leader to identify the root cause of a problem by listening to both parties. An analysis is carried out to determine the best course of action that would be fair to all the parties involved. Solving a conflict requires the party in charge to be neutral regardless of their relationship with each of the parties. This can only be possible for an individual who has good problem-solving skills. Every organization is bound to have conflicts between employees or management. Therefore, if such conflicts are not solved appropriately, then there are high chances that the employees will not be in a position to cooperate with one another towards the achievement of the set goals. The best thing they can do is keep grudges. However, if the conflict is well solved, then the involved parties will be satisfied and ready to resume their normal business routine. The trait is not only desirable to the organization, but it is also important in the life of the leader. A leader is a role model to the rest of the employees and therefore, if they come to work with personal issue bothering them, then they will send the wrong message to the employees hence affecting the whole organization. Hence, the trait is also helpful in their life.
Communication in the workplace has a huge contribution to the achievement of the organizational goals. Passing the wrong information could result in the downfall of a huge project. Therefore, communication within an organization can be improved by implement the culture of following up on issues through writing. Writing would enable the involved parties to keep records and track the information that they were passing or following up on. It is an effective strategy because there are few chances whereby the involved parties would forget about the issue. Through writing, a person is able to set reminders since employees have a lot of workload to deal with hence making it difficult for them to follow up on every detail. Most organizations have customized office emails through which the employees can communicate amongst themselves and to the managers. The best part about sending emails is that a copy can be sent to different parties who ought to be a part of the conversation.
