Emotions refer to short-lived, discrete, and intense feeling experiences, which are usually caused by a particular event. On that note, it is challenging to develop and implement an emotion reading technology in the workplace. Paul Ekman, a psychologist, who is considered as the best reader of human faces, recorded over 5,000 muscle movements for over four decades. However, despite how the individual is good at reading humans’ facial expressions, he admits that a Facial Coding System is not easy to implement. One of the best workplace applications of emotion reading technology is to facilitate effective communication. In most cases, people working together encounter conflicts since they do not understand one another. Facial expressions have a high likelihood of telling about how one feels about something, which is the reason why it can significantly help in eliminating conflicts in the workplace. Moreover, technology can foster emotional intelligence. In other words, employees behave in the right way to avoid hurting their colleagues. They understand that their emotions influence others’ responses and are more careful about how they treat their co-workers. Consequently, an emotion reading technology can help an organization to run smoothly by bringing workers together and combating conflicts in the workplace.
