Nana Called
Illness is inevitable and at some point everyone gets sick. Nana has been ill and got admitted to a hospital. Things appear not to be well since her health is deteriorating. For all other times that Nana has been sick, she appeared lively and there was hope that she will recover and return home. However, this time Nana is sick and the only thing that shows she might get well is her eyes since they never lost fire or hope.
Nana is one of the strongest person I know and she is the magnet that hold our extended family together. Seeing all other family members staring at me while I entered the hospital room was unusual. Everyone was always jovial and lively when around Nana. All the attention being directed to me and stillness that remains in the air while Nana beckons me to enter is shocking. The small brochure that Nana handed over to me was even more appalling. In my mind, I thought it contains information that Nana wanted me to know because it would be hard for her to speak all those words. My eyes were filled with tears but I was not in a position to cry since I did not want to show Nana that I was weak. I greeted her and held her hand, which appeared like a skeleton of bones.
