The ancient mystery of the death of the boy king remains unsolved with numerous scientists, historians, and Egyptologist coming up with theories to explain the same. The conflicting theories are a huge sign than no one is certain about what could have killed the famous pharaoh. There exist various theories medically supported some stating it was an accident, others purporting assassination, and most of them blaming it on diseases. At just the age of eight years, King Tut found himself in power. His closest advisors including Aye who were to be beside him until he came of age led the country. Technology has helped unearth a lot about the king including his age at the time of death. However, the reverse is also true as the X rays and CT scans have brought by even more speculations and confusing theories on the cause of Tutankhamun's death.
Examining the mystery of Tutankhamun the death of two theories stood out. The two theories are the allegations of murder by Bob Brier and a combination of diseases, which were untreated over time by Hawass and others. Many scientists and historians have come out to support the theory of murder or assassination after evidence provided by Dr. Bob Brier. The Egyptologist for many reasons believed that the pharaoh was murdered including the results of medical evaluations that showed a blow to the head and fractured bones Kmtsesh (1). Brier has achieved tremendous success through his book ‘The Murder of King Tutankhamun’. He believed that Aye one of the king's closest advisors had a lot to gain from his death because he wanted to be king. Brier also supports the allegation with a letter from the queen that shows her distress with marrying a servant after the death of her husband Brier (2). On the other hand, Hawass and others point to disease as a factor in the king’s death and have evidence to support the claim.
