Coming to New France
When I first came to what the motherland called as the “New France”, I easily noticed how big the expanse of the land is. A vast expanse of lands in the other side of the Atlantic that extends from the Hudson Bay until the mouth of the Mississippi and from the Rocky Mountains to the Arcadian shores, is surely not only a story but a reality in now my eyes. As they said, the longs days of travel across the Atlantic is surely worth it, for now I’ve experienced how it is to feel like still being in the motherland while being in the other side of the world.
Economic Activities
Life in New France is fun but not without any challenges. In order to provide sustenance most of our early years we resorted to trading fur or fishing, which are two of the most dominant livelihood resources these days. However, among these two the fur trade became our most sufficient sources of livelihood for its demand is very big overseas. However, as I see the opportunity that lays in front of my eyes, an opportunity of expansion, I realize that despite I want establish a bigger industry here for fur trade, the mother country’s (France) mercantilist policy would not allow me to establish anything that could compete with its own gains.
The Populations that I’ve noticed
Also, by the time that I came here at New France, I realized that the whole population could be divided in three categories the (1) slaves, (2)seigneurs, (3) and the religious missionaries. Basically, the slaves were products of traditional colonialism that originated in the west.
