           Healthcare organizations need to adjust and improve constantly to meet the changing healthcare needs of patients. As the populations’ characteristics and preferences change, so will the needs of patients. This paper examines the organizational readiness of Vanguard Healthcare Services to meet the healthcare needs of patients in the next decade.
Vanguard Healthcare Services: Description
           Vanguard Healthcare Services or simply Vanguard is a healthcare organization that is based in Brentwood, Tennessee. The organization provides long-term care skilled nursing and rehabilitation services for patients who are working to regain their health after an injury, illness, or surgical procedure (Vanguard Healthcare Services, n.d.). The organization has several long-term care facilities across four states; Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi, and West Virginia. The goal of Vanguard is to become the best service provider in the long-term care industry by offering patient-centered care. To achieve this goal, Vanguard has been guided by the following core values:

           In addition to these values, Vanguard is also guided by a mission. Its mission is “to provide dignity in life for those we serve (Vanguard Healthcare Services, n.d.).” The organization’s interdisciplinary teams of skilled nurses, physicians, and admission staff ensure that patients receive personalized care that meets their individual needs.
Vanguard Healthcare Services Overall Readiness
           As an organization that operates in the long-term care industry, Vanguard is prepared to address the needs of patients in the next ten years by providing care in skilled-nursing facilities. The increasingly aging population with diverse needs is rapidly shaping the future of healthcare. According to Fulmer et al. (2021), more than 20% of Americans will be above 65 years by 2030. An aging population is characterized by chronic diseases that need effective management as well as the need for assisted living. Vanguard is ready to meet this need because it has a skilled nursing workforce that is already providing services to the elderly in various skilled-nursing facilities.
