Navigating Coronavirus
Perhaps one of the worst pandemics in living memory, the coronavirus has continued wreaking havoc across the world like a sand storm across the desert. Coronavirus has caused harm to economic, political, and social life globally. Virtually everything has come to a standstill, as humankind resorts to survival rather than prosperity. Education is one of the hardest-hit sectors and students are in “limbo” of what will happen next as far as their education life is concerned. From the discussion by Kimberly A. Whittler (Ph.D. lecturer) and Umesh Ramakrishman (co-CEO of Kingsley Gate Patterns), I get to understand that college students are ultimately affected by this pandemic but they can come up with possible ways to navigate it.
Despite the challenges and national directives to protect myself, I need to be focused on my career. One of the possible ways is to network. Creating connections with my target companies is very important. Another way is that I have been practicing online interviews as some mentors are having time during this pandemic. While free, I do more research on the company early enough when preparing for any future interviews. This is also a possibility because the pandemic is bound to impact on the job market negatively. The longer it goes, the worse things become on an average scale (Whitler). If the company slows down in recruitment or doesn’t hire me, I have definitely an option to enroll in graduate school for a higher degree.
