The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) was mandated to regulate the broadcast media due to its increasing power and control over American culture and the flow of information. With such control and power, broadcast media is prone to misuse primarily due to the enormous investments and funds available to the media owners in the country. Therefore, the FCC should not wholly deregulate the industry but rather tighten the rules on misleading information presented by such media.
