Most importantly, Dean Spade’s video explains and provides the audience with a distinctive map regarding whatever damage critical trans-politics can do to transgender individuals. Specifically, he acknowledges that racialized gender norms function as social control for different groups of people, such as people of color, people with disabilities, etc. This condition creates the justification or need for battling against gender oppression. For instance, failing to address the circumstance can leave these gendered persons vulnerable in society, making them uncomfortable living and making ends meet (Barnard Center for Research on Women 2013). For instance, they can lack employment, which is critical to sustaining their livelihoods. Above all, trans people deserve transgender freedom because, without it, they are highly likely to lack a piece of mind and, most importantly, consider society an unsafe place to stay and interact with the “normal people.”
Gender is a vital consideration in every life aspect. It is an approach to examining how power structures and social norms influence lives and opportunities. Kimberlé Crenshaw’s work on YouTube recognizes the relevance of considering gender within the law. It is clear that the law is not serious about protecting or observing human rights, starting with police officers who should be maintaining law and order instead of serving citizens violently (TED 2016).
