Artist’s Statement
This message is against racial discrimination and racial injustices; whether Asian, Hispanic, or Black, all groups deserve equality and equity. There is an increase in police brutality, targeted racial shootings, and segregation of minorities. The posts say no to racism, police brutality, and gun violence. One example of racism and discrimination is society being against and negative toward Arab women and how they dress. Vyver asserts that the Quran does not state that individuals should cover themselves, but this does not imply that people should dispute their communities' traditions. How women in Arab countries traditionally concealed their faces seems to me that they readily appreciate their cultural beliefs. In my opinion, they do this to show their strong beliefs and their religious obligations. According to Vyver, some spouses force their wives to wear burkas to hide their identities which I think is wrong.
