Traditionally, the term “woke” was used to indicate that individuals are aware and attentive to various facts and things that happen around them. In the current world, the term is used to judge individuals who aspire to such values, mainly because they do not comprehend how un-woke they are or because they are not as proud as they are supposed to be about being woke (Kanai 27). Woke culture is not about being kind, equal, or fair, unlike what most people assume. Wokeism on various social platforms is now being used as a weapon to destroy the lives of individuals regardless of gender, age, or even race (Coppola 30). Through the use of woke culture, individuals are openly attacking those who do not seem to share the same ideology. Furthermore, the woke culture is always looking for targets to act on, and individuals hide their ridiculous acts to seek justice and equality.
The first craziness of wokeism is demanding the defunding of law enforcement. Due to the defamation of police officers, cases of crime rates, including murder, in America increased (Mirzaei 9). To ensure that cases of police brutality against people of color were reduced, individuals who deemed themselves woke enough demanded the defunding of law enforcers. The effects of this are dire because crime rates increase since there are not enough resources to ensure law and order are marinated by law enforcement (Coppola 31). The second form of the craziness of wokeism is teaching this cruel ideology to children. In a society where woke culture is embraced, adults teach their children that they are innately guilty of oppression because of the color of their skin. Teaching a child that their color makes her susceptible to mistreatment is a wrong ideology that should not be encouraged in any society.
The other craziness of wokeism is the emboldening of criminals. In several cases, a group of people who show no fear of arrest or conviction have been reported robbing, assaulting, and sometimes killing the innocent with impunity. Unfortunately, such victims do not seem to warrant my attention. Individuals have hidden under the term wokeism to commit crimes because they believe that if the law faces them, they can justify their acts by being in the minority group (Sobande). Furthermore, the individuals guilty of these heinous acts are the elite, billionaires, and academics. The other negative impact of wokeism is postulated to be on sexual orientation.
