1 You will carry out a Narrative Analysis of 1 Samuel 25:2-44. Please analyze this story by noting the presence of these characteristics:- Opening and Closing
The opening mentions, Nabal and his wife Abigail who had sheep and had property in Maon, Carmel. The bible further states that he was of the lineage of Caleb highlight the historical significance of lineage during the time. The last two verses are “David had also married Ahinoam of Jezreel, and they both were his wives” and But Saul had given his daughter Michal, David’s wife, to Paltiel son of Laish, who was from Gallim.- Repetition
David, Lord: Nabal and Abigail are the most common commonly used word in the passage as the chapter focuses on David, Nabal and Abigail. Repetition emphasizes the main points in the chapter and the chapter mentions wife and wives with Abigail becoming David’s wife after Nabal’s death. - Creation of Characters
In creating the characters the bible states that “A certain man in Maon, who had property there at Carmel, was very wealthy” (2). Then the bible further states “his wife’s name was Abigail. She was an intelligent and beautiful woman” (2). Besides the three main characters s, David, Nabal and Abigail, there are other characters mentioned at the end of the chapter such as Saul
