Corporate Social Responsibility
The realization that organizations have a role to play in the community within which they have their operations, in essence, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has become an important part of corporate strategies (Latapí Agudelo et al. par. 1). Although CSR is not a completely new idea, the intensity with which corporations are implementing it has become more rampant in the recent past. For example, Ford Motor Company, an American multinational company dealing with the manufacture and sale of automobiles, has lasted over a century, appearing as one of the exceptional brands with its CSR strategy (Ford Corporate). Moreover, CSR has been ingrained in the company’s purpose statement of building a better world, strengthening its responsibility to the environment by committing to carbon neutrality and emphasizing pay equity.
As Ford Motor Company seeks to be the leader in the automobile industry, it has maintained a corporate strategy centered around the product’s consumers. Ford Motor Company’s purpose statement is “ to help built a better world, where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams” (Ford Corporate par. 1). From the corporate statement, the most important message is that the company is committed to addressing the need to make the mobility of the people much easier, efficient, and affordable. Elevating the community as a whole has been a critical part of the Ford Motor Company for quite a long time. For instance, with Ford Fund, the company partners with non-profit organizations to help the members of the communities with resources and opportunities to enrich their lives (fordfund.org). Aware of its responsibility to better the lives of the community members, Ford Motor Company’s employees gladly partake in the various initiatives and are proud to be part of the initiatives.
