Reflection On Changes In Your Writing Style

Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date Introduction In the course of my schooling years, I have noted the changes that have occurred in the writing styles in each academic level. In elementary level, writing was simple and did not demand a lot of expertise. Come high school, essays and research required following a certain format advancing further in college. The tertiary level of education has seen the most of change in writing formats. Whereas the standard 5 paragraph format is still in use, other writing formats have come in play. In most assignments, the 5 paragraph format is still the standard, this format requires an introduction that gives background information of a topic and arguments to be discussed. The body paragraphs discusses each argument in its own paragraph and finally a conclusion. This has changed as my art and literature classes have required me to write different types of papers deviating from the usual standard. Literature has played the biggest role since in leaning different forms of writing I have had to write an assignment that did not conform to the introduction-discussion-conclusion format. Writing a letter was something I learnt early in my school years and obviously this does not need a 5 paragraph standard. Plays are part of literature lessons and since they involve dialogues, the standard format is not used. Poems on the other hand have their own formats of rhymes and stanzas. Descriptive works in literature require description of a place or a person and this does not follow the whole standard format.
