Portrait Of Femininity And Womanhood In The Pillow Book

Essay Instructions:

1.The work of Sei Shōnagon affords modern readers insight into the life and mind of a woman who lived during the Middle Heian Period or 1000 A.D. There are several preoccupations she returns to again and again—nature, aesthetic beauty, clothing and ceremonial garments, courtly customs and faux pas, class dynamics, the lives of other women, and poetry. Take two or three of these concepts and explore the ways in which they construct a complex and nuanced portrait of femininity and womanhood in The Pillow Book.
The above is the requirement of this essay.
You don't need to read the entire book. I will upload a document with the things you need to read. Just read chapters 1,3-5, 10, 12, 13, 24, 25, 33, 34, 37, 54, 79-81, 117. The length is very short and will not take a long time.
