Monkey Novel
Being one of the most typical novels across almost all the part of the world, Monkey explains clearly the aspects of Chinese culture. The story comprises of a character named Monkey. The character is born through a magic stone but not through normal parents like others. Well known as ‘The handsome monkey king,’ he ruled cave heaven. After the ruling for a couple of years, he decides to leave the place to change his mortality by removing his credentials from the book of the dead. Changing his name to Sun Wunkong, which is a holy name, he learns the ways of the earth and how to transform. Later on, he saved his community from evil spirits and made heaven protector (Ping-I Mao 33).
The novel talks about the life of a Monkey who was born through rock and was made a king through discovering the fully furnished castle. The Monkey seeks immortality and has to perform great deeds to achieve what he wanted. Through traveling and having ambitions, he is stubborn and fearless hence gets all that he wanted. Due to the high level of mischievousness, Sun is imprisoned for five hundred years and later converted to Buddhism, and the work was to take journeys with the monks.
Buddhism depicted in the novel through the use of powers; in the story, Monkey asks for assistance from the dragon of the sea ’’Guang’’. The dragon issues him a 13,500 pound of the pillar, which is iron. In the novel, the monkey carries it in the ear like a needle. The commitment of taking the needle in the ear in many years demonstrates they believe that the monkey had towards the spiritual world. Strong believes in the spiritual realm. Obtaining helmet, which was purple, cloud walking shoes, and golden suit from the three brothers of the dragon. Multiplication of his powers gives out what he requires to have more capabilities to save any life.
Being born from stones, it is a supernatural move from the author hence showing the aspect of higher believes towards the audience. People think using different things, but in this novel, psychic powers detected at a high level. If at all, he was born out of a typical monkey family, the belief of powers and immortality could be doubted and discourage the readers from direct exposure to Buddhism (Eiseman, Fred B. Bali 102-116). Having no fears puts the character to a safer side of the find. The Monkey had a lot of character to encourage out people, making them have faith in whatever they pursue; this makes them believers. The traits included; loyal, creative, spiritual detached, optimistic, lovable, and persistent.
The Monkey is demonstrating how the conversion of Buddhism took place in China; it revolves around a monkey considering the journey to India for the translation. In China now, the monkey statues are found in almost all the places of worship to demonstrate the ability to be reliable, healthy, and love in most of the relationships. Monkey acts as a superhero in the novel, being a superhero, it is like giving others hopes towards any hard endurance and how easy to face challenges.
