In relation to your proposal, you will submit an annotated bibliography containing at least seven (7) entries, two of which must be counterarguments. The annotations for each of your sources should provide a brief and focused summary of the source and 1-2 sentences that describe how the source will be used in your essay and/or how the source is useful to your argument specifically (i.e. it goes without saying that you plan to use a source to support your claim; what specifically makes it relevant and worth incorporating?). The annotation for each source should be between 125 and 150 words long. Always be sure to verify whether or not the sources are reliable in their nature. If not absolutely academic, consider what makes the text a viable source for your argument. Consider your audience for your research to be a broad audience who may or may not agree with your point of view; it is your job to present a cogent and convincing premise using relevant texts.

A strong annotated bibliography will:
include at least seven (7) sources, two of which must be counterarguments, in MLA format
At least three (3) of these sources must come from scholarly sources
adequately summarize each source
detail how each source is useful to the proposal's question/argument in as specific a manner as possible
use appropriate academic language that has been proofread/edited and is free of grammatical or spelling errors
meet the word limits for the source annotations

Some questions to get you started:

How do your sources contribute to framing your own argument?
In what way are these texts relevant to your topic?
How are you responding to sources/authors that perhaps agree with you?
How do you plan to address counterarguments?
How does your own research add to the discussion of these sources?

Standard practices of citation are required. Do not use someone else’s summary as your own. Even though you are required in part to summarize, the summary (and any analysis, explanation, &c.) must be your own.

Cristian, Dezco., David, Ross., & Jose, Uribe. Why are there so few women top managers? Columbia University. 2013.
The ideas presented by Cristian, David, and Jose are fascinating. The trio seeks to showcase that the presence of a woman as a top management executive is likely to hinder the selection or appointment of other women to other executive positions. These researchers make use of twenty years of panel data from the executive or top management teams of S&P 1500 firms. The results reveal that with women at the top of management positions, it is highly likely that other women will not make it to these positions. These researchers attribute their results to the lack of solidarity among women as well as gender equity issues in management. Well, this article brings a different perspective to the topic am handling. Instead of showing that men are responsible for the few female CEOs, this article considers the option that women could be hindering their fellow women’s chances of ever making it to top executive positions which is quite interesting and enriching to my topic.

Drew presents evidence which appears to show that women are not CEOs today and this may not change in the near future. Apparently, aside from not having a good number of women as CEOs, companies in the US also have fewer women than men in the top executive positions. Well, holding a position just below the CEO’s position means that one’s chances of succeeding the CEO are high. However, as Drew reveals only 11.5% of the 5700 executive positions are women. Additionally, Drew mentions while these positions often open the door for women to become CEOs, the 11.5% hold positions which are likely not to open the CEO door. It is true that organizations prefer to have people with operational experience at the top. However, how will the women get the top positions if they are not offered the positions that lead to the top? Drew’s article is a perfect fit for my research because instead of focusing on the top positions only, it goes a step further and examines the situation before women become CEOs. This article exposes the problem and shows that it starts a few positions back.

Green starts his article by noting how Katharine Graham’s appointment as CEO of the Washington Post Co. was seen as start or also as an end to the idea that only men can be CEOs. He proceeds to show the numbers or percentages which indicate that women CEOs are few. Apparently out of the 500 Fortune Company CEOs, women were only 24 or an equivalent of 4.8%. Green attributes this number to the issue of sexism as well as what he calls old-boy networks and finally the lack of qualified female personnel to take up the positions.
