For this assignment, you are asked to look at advertisements with a critical eye. In class, we’ve discussed why the use of logical fallacies in formal academic writing is wrong. However, as you will notice, they are used intentionally in advertisements. Please watch commercials (3 to be exact), look at billboards, and listen to radio ads. Then analyze the fallacy used and the effectiveness of said fallacy. In a 1-2 page typed assignment, describe (summarize) the advertisement, describe the fallacy used and why you think it is that fallacy, and rate its effectiveness.

Logical Fallacies
The use of logical fallacies in an academic setting is highly discouraged. However, they are used in various advertisements intentionally. Logical fallacies are errors in reasoning that are used by advertisers to appeal to the public and make people buy a particular product. These arguments can be based on individuals’ opinions or myths, which is the reason why they have no room in scholastic writing. The paper focuses on the effectiveness of logical fallacies in three advertisements.
The “Drake Sprite: The Spark Commercial” advertisement uses a logical fallacy to influence individuals to drink sprite soda. The ad shows Drake being unable to sing in a recording studio, where he says that he cannot hear the beat. He orders the producer to repeat the beats, and this time the singer takes a sip of sprite soda. Afterward, his body opens like a robot where the audience sees the splash of the soda he has taken (“Drake Sprite: The Spark Commercial”). At this point, he manages to sing very well. In this ad, the advertiser wants the audience to believe that sprite soda can give an individual a spark or motivation to do something. Indeed, the authority logical fallacy is used in this ad to make people believe that a sprite soda is all they need to perform their duties well. The argument in this ad is a fallacy since there is no scientific evidence to show how a sprite can increase one’s vitality or energy in doing something. Drake is used as an example of what individuals who drink sprite can do. Moreover, the logical fallacy used in this ad is effective since it makes fans who are loyal to drink sprite since the celebrity advocates it.
The second ad that uses a logical fallacy publicizes a toothpaste brand known as “Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief.” In this advertisement, the audience sees a dentist who is explaining the effectiveness of Colgate in washing a person's teeth (Colgate Philippines...
