Retrieved from /stable/40063648
Anderson and Bushman are senior lecturers in the Department of Psychology at the University of Iowa. The authors conducted secondary research based on existing scientific literature to ascertain whether there is evidence to suggest that violent video games hurt the players. They hypothesized that violent video games indeed prompt the players to express aggressive behavior and have poor social skills. From their laboratory research experiment, the hypotheses were validated that violent video games prompted aggressive behavior and reduced prosocial behavior. Thus, children and young adults who play these games are likely to be violent and have poor social skills.
This article would be important in the writing of the research paper because the findings of the researchers assert that video games influence the players. Since it is an article authored based on secondary research, it also points to other primary research articles that show that computer games affect the players.
