Introduction
Hypocrisy between people is an issue that has negatively affected society, making people lose trust and belief amongst themselves. Hypocrites are disliked by most individuals since they often use condemnation to unfairly attain reputational benefits at the expense of the individuals they are condemning (Burnett np). If an individual bears ugly thoughts, they may start to show on their faces, but hypocrites have learned the ability to hide these attributes. Hypocrites appear virtuous, but since most of their actions are based on pretense, their reputational benefits are usually undeserved. Hypocrites believe that their actions are right, but they only become wrong when other people emulate them. Furthermore, the hypocritical media has become the new guardian that controls the morals of society (Waters np). Currently, hypocrisy is widespread since most people tend to say one thing and do exactly the opposite. Hypocrisy occurs when one decides to criticize certain actions, yet end up doing the same actions. This speech analyzes how issues of media, inequality, and general hypocrisies affect people and society.
Hypocrisy takes numerous forms. Dean Burnett published an article titled "It's only wrong when YOU do it! The psychology of hypocrisy," and he argues that some individuals say one thing but end up doing something else. In the current society, that is full political aggressiveness, cybercrime, and other societal challenges imply that there are several hypocrisies moving around (Burnett np). Evidence indicates that people lambast others for doing certain things, yet they participate in the same activities. For instance, politicians may accuse their colleagues of bribing voters, knowing very well they have also bribed voters.
Conversely, the youth claim that they want to be sheltered from controversies, but when their opinions are opposed, they suffer from an apparent meltdown. Cyber-attacks are frequent even as people demand freedom of expression (Burnett np). Even as individuals ask for peace and tolerance, they end up getting outraged when their techniques are disputed by other people. The authors also argue that some issues that are considered as hypocrisy may not be hypocritical since they are consistent with the worldview of the observer. Hypocrisy also occurs when something is against one's beliefs. For instance, when a politician who supports family values but is caught having an affair is labeled a hypocrite.
It is evident that hypocrisies also exists even at the highest level of politics. For instance, political leaders may come up with unrealistic agendas which they claim that they will fulfill if they are elected. However, even after getting elected, they fail to attain their objectives, and this is when the electorate calls them hypocrites. Analysts are of the opinion that hypocrisy can be somehow be complicated. This is because hypocrisy can portray itself in numerous ways and for diverse reasons.
