How English Composition Course Helped Me Improve

How English Composition I Helped Me Improve Writing comprises a great portion of a student’s life. Wherever school you may go, you cannot escape the need to write—for book reports, class essays, etc. However, not all are born with the innate flair and talent for writing great pieces of work. Hence, colleges and universities nowadays have established a dedicated course for that, in my case, English Composition I. This course is designed to provide support for students to develop their writing skills as preparation for any further academic writing. In this course, I have learned quite a lot, but I will highlight four in this paper. First, I have learned about the basics of academic writing. I learned how to write using various academic writing styles like APA, MLA, etc. I learned to use rhetorical devices and argumentative speech to help me convey my ideas in writing. It also greatly improved my grammar and writing style as well as my way of presenting information. Second, the English Composition I course, helped me develop my social skills as I get to mingle, and share works with my peers. I experienced what it is like to criticize my classmate’s papers as well as have my work criticized by others. It helped give me a wider perspective on how to write my paper. By listening to and considering others' comments about my work, I have learned to improve and improve even more on my writing. Third, I was engaged in research to gather much-needed information.
