Post TWO substantive responses to other students' posts. The response posts must be between 100 and 150 words each. NOTE: The goal of the discussion board is not simply to say "I agree with you" and add a short sentence or two, but rather to carry the discussion forward by asking follow up questions or expanding on key course concepts so as to engage in a meaningful and constructive dialogue with fellow students. This are the 2 classmate post that you need to reply too. I will attached the chapter that regards to this post.
Chapter 10
Jean-Paul Sartre believed that without God, humans would not possibly obtain any moral standards or rules and would live without ethics. “If God does not exist, then everything is permitted” (Sartre, 2020). I disagree with Sartre’s assumption in more ways than one. With the example of atheists, their thoughts are “It must be obligatory, a priori, to be honest, not to lie, not to beat your wife, to have children, etc., . . . In other words . . . nothing will be changed if God does not exist” (Sartre, 2020). This is a prime explanation that not all who believe in God follow in ethical behavior. We know that plenty of claimed Christians act out of belief. Yet those who choose not to believe entirely still go on to live with civilized virtue. In addition to the atheist’s stance, we could pull in ancient tribal people who live outside of civilization. Some of these tribes worship off the land, and not a God. They still develop love, rules, and compassion within their societies. If they have no education on a God like figure, but operate with standards, how can Sartre be correct?
Chapter 11
According to Dalrymple, the fundamental difference between being depressed and being unhappy is the different kinds of choices that different people perform. He also claimed that unhappiness generally results from poor life decisions and that depression is recognized to be a medically diagnosable condition that is separate and visible to people. During Dalrymple's practice, many people who were unhappy would often falsely self-diagnose themselves as depressed as many of them would describe their condition as being "depressed" rather than "unhappy". When Dalrymple was a physician he stated, "Of the thousands of patients I have seen, only two or three have ever claimed to be unhappy: all the rest have said that they were depressed. This semantic shift is deeply significant, for it implies that dissatisfaction with life is itself pathological, a medical condition, which it is the responsibility of the doctor to alleviate by medical means" (Dalrymple, 2015). From this statement, one could suggest that Dalrymple understood that depression could be treated with the assistance of a doctor as well as by having an adequate amount of sleep, having a healthy diet, having regular exercise, and having regular socialization with friends and family. Furthermore, I do agree with his ideas because people easily confuse unhappiness with depression and people could simply make some adjustments to their life choices since choices are affected by the ideas that people get and it's these choices or ideas that people get to feel unhappiness or depression.

Chapter 10
We currently live in our world where theists and atheists understand and differentiate between right and wrong. As such, it seems that God is not central to morality. However, we must question whether this sense of understanding between right and wrong is a result of the influence of religion from past generations. It is undeniable that religious teachings have been in the world for centuries. We cannot, therefore, ignore their role, if any, in shaping our current sense of morality even if we do not believe in the existence of God. If this is not the case, then we must consider what role evolution has played in morality. Have we evolved, over the years, to be moral beings, not because of our religious practices ...
