Krsna Cheats, Dissimulates, and Operates Under Elaborate Disguise in Mahabharata
Mahabharata is one of the two main epics in Sanskrit. In this narration, we see the struggle between the cousins in the Kurukshetra War, as well as the fate of the Kaurava and Pandava princes. The book also contains devotional and philosophical discourses, which include the discussion of the four discourses of life. Other important works contained within the text includes the Bhagavad Gita. As we can deduce through the text, there are aspects of betray, dissimulate, cheat, and operate under disguises. Throughout the narration, we can see that the purpose of Lord Krsna was to eliminate evil and restore peace through the dharma virtue. Through his actions, his spreads this message to many people across the world. He exhibited commitment to his mission and ensured that everything he wanted to achieve was worked on and attained. There were many things he associated himself with, as he was working on his purpose. He never feared deceive other in order to achieve his mission. In the Mahabharata, we see that Lord Krsna involved in trickery when he had no other choice in order to win over the souls that were perceived to be evil. Through the narrative, we can see that when sin is committed for the purpose of dharma, it is never a sin, and does not attract any bad consequences.
In the scene where he kills Bhishma, Krsna resorted to deceptive tactics. Parshuram was a very skilled bowman and Arjuna was defenseless against him because he feared him. As Smith noted, Krsna was “every bit as many-faceted a human being as, say, Yudhisthira or Karna, but in addition he is the supreme lord of all, God himself incarnate on earth” (Smith xxxiv). This statement affirms the manipulating power of Krsna, and how he changed forms, attitudes, and behaviors to meet his objectives.
It was clear that the only way to defeat Parshurama as Krsna plotted was to use a female person, Shikhandi who would act as a weak spot for Arjuna to acquire a chance to kill him (Smith xxxiv-xxxv). Krsna cheated in the scene where he leads to Dronacharya’s death. Krsna applied deceit in his game because he knew it was impossible to defeat Dronacharya holding his arrow and bow in the hand. The deceit plan generated by Krsna included Bhima killing the elephant as Yudhisthir and Ashvatthama shouted at the top of their voices that Asvatthama was dead. The actions were meant to blindfold Drona whom after putting down his arrow and bow in shock, was murdered (Smith). In the scene where Krsna kills Jayadrathat, he portrays a good example of a liar, and a cheat. Arjuna out of anger had vowed to kill Jayadratha before sunset and also promised to burn himself if he failed. Besides, a strong shied was created by the Kauravas before sunset. Krsna talked to maya, the Goddess of illusion to form an illusion of sunset. In the process Jayadratha came to see Arjuna burning himself but then he was killed. Krsna uses Maya to distract our senses.
Krsna cheats and uses disguise in the scene where he kills Karna. Karna was a warrior who stood on his chariot with sharpened weapons in his hand, and it was not easy to kill him. During ...
