Cyber Violence
The internet is an important part of life for millions of people all over the world. While many people use the internet as a tool for enhancing their lives, a growing part of the internet users on online platforms use the platforms wrongly. This group uses the internet for antisocial reasons including in stalking, cyber bullying, cyber dating abuse, preying on others and harassing them in a manner that often leaves them distressed. These antisocial behaviors culminate into cyber violence, which always lead people to suffer physically, psychologically or emotionally. For this reason, the present paper investigates the effects of the prevalence of cyber violence amongst students and the possible solutions. Specifically, cyber violence leads to poor academic performance, physical violence, low self-esteem and suicide. The best possible solution is restricting the perpetrators’ access to the internet.

Additionally, people exposed to cyber bullying are known to suffer from a low self-esteem and negative image especially when their personal information is shared on these online platforms. For instance, recent years have seen many girls and women having their nude pictures leaked out to the internet and particularly on Facebook. Considering the large number of internet users, such photos are always shared widely in a manner that leaves the victims embarrassed and with a damaged self-esteem. The other effect of cyber violence is causing the victims to commit suicide or harbor suicidal thoughts. Accordingly, when young people are harassed maybe about their body or threatened about other personal issues, there is a tendency for most to entertain suicidal thoughts while some go ahead and take their lives. These effects call for the need to look for the best solution to the cyber violence problem.
Cyber violence takes various forms that could affect people differently and because of this, the best possible solution to stop this abuse amongst the youth is taking away the access to technology from the offender. According to Kraft and Wang (530), the most appropriate way of tackling the cyber violence cases is through taki...
