Censorship and Society
Censorship is the process of suppressing information because it is maybe sensitive or harmful for consumption. I have a close ally who is an advocate for free speech in American society, and she has been fighting for protection and respect for the people of color and other ethnic groups. As an investigative journalist Kimmy (fictional name), she has explored every aspect of the history of social injustices in America and its effects on society. She has been censored more than five items due to her fierce advocacy for freedom, but she never gives up on her call. Although censorship's objective is to protect people from harmful information, I believe it sometimes oversteps its obligation; for example, every time Kimmy is censored, there are no defined reasons why she was censored. She has been fighting for equal rights for women and giving Black Women an equal employment opportunity. Everyone needs to be treated with dignity and equity in their workplaces. However, it is not the case for women; many are sexually harassed and sent laid-off without proper communication.
For this reason, Kimmy raised a voice through her blogging channel and her social media platforms to call for action for equity. She was using a specific company whose CEO harassed a worker sexually. Additionally, Kimmy went ahead and put the CEO's pictures and a video of him touching a woman's hips. According to the information provided, the action was inhumane and it was unethical, and thus needed to call for action on that particular act. Unfortunately, the information plus the video was removed from her channels, claiming that she has violated policies. How did she violate the guidelines? I believe the people in power have total control over almost everything and sometimes the rule in shadows. The issue of censorship in society is quite diverse, and it is always faced with controversies.
Secondly, Kimmy was at the forefront since 2018, calling for justice to the murders of Black Americans. All the information she provided on the channel showed how some people were brutally murdered in cold blood in the streets of Chicago, Pennsylvania, and New York.
