SUBJECT: Recommendation Report
This report discusses the need for China to adopt a rating system for its animations. It further outlines in depth the recommendations which should be implemented to realize the stated issue.
Problem
China has lacked a system for rating its animation for a very long time. It has ended up resulting in various social issues. Most of the parents and guardians interviewed by multiple media outlets about Chinese animation have a suspicion that those animations with explicit scenes and full of violence do have a negative implication on their children. It has thus prompted most of the parents to resolve in reporting such animations to the mandated film censorship body of the government, resulting in such animations getting banned eternally. Conversely, 80 percent of those who watch animations believe that the latter actions hamper Chinese animation's growth and development. Since many high-quality, in-depth, and incredible Chinese animations end up being prohibited from getting air, while the animations' creators, their target audience is usually the children who like watching cartoons that are safer for them.
Significance
Children and teenagers are meant to be assisted by animations to familiarize themselves more with the globe. Children have different levels of ability in differentiating what is right and wrong based on their ages. Therefore, it means that when they get exposed to animations whose lines of the story are beyond their perception, there is a 90 percent chance it would harm them. Children may be prompted to copy things they watch on the screens because of their nature of being curious that they are born with and their talent of imitating things, whether real or implicit. An animation rating system should be adopted to make children not come across pornography and violent elements. If not done, it would pose a severe problem; children will watch harmful content detrimental to their healthy development. It was reported that in some parts of China, some children have ended up trying to imitate some of the scenes they saw in the animations resulting in a catastrophe.
Recommendations
Given the severity of the pre-stated problem, I make the following recommendations to address the issue mentioned above.
* Classifications of thematic elements.
* Rating of animations.
* Parents participation
Classification of Thematic Elements
The elements of the various animations which do not fit into the traditional permissible groups should be classified. It would mean that parents would need to be enlightened more about a given animation before granting their children the consent to watching them. The thematic areas should be classified on the following criteria:
1 Crime and violence
Suppose the animation shows scenes of hostility that may terrify, create a state of not being settled, or grant an affinity for imitating such scenes. In that case, children should be put under this particular group more specifically. Therefore, it means that, for animations meant for children, only mild scenes sign of violence relevant to the plot of the story will be allowed. The elements that should be clas...
