I. Brief summary of Albert and Esene story
Noble’s Albert and Esene story begins by addressing family relations between married couples and in-laws. Esene sisters-in law seem to be envious of her life and her loving husband; Albert. Since their husbands died, they equally feel happy once Esene’s husband dies. More so, Albert family seems to celebrate because Esene and Albert do not have a child. However, before Albert died, he was the perfect husband to Esene. He took good care of her and even promised to talk on her behalf when she could not talk.
Furthermore, the story shows how women can become better people in the society if given the appropriate environment to prosper. To support this case, Albert secretly teaches Esene how to write and read despite Esene being un-interested. He frequently provides magazines and newspapers for her to read but argues her to keep it as a secret.
II. Argument about what the story means
The story simply shows how love and education create a healthy family. The story illustrates this theme using a conflict and providing a way to resolve it. I believe love conquers all the barriers that culture creates in a society. They say that culture cannot be changed but I say culture can be...
