Cultural Changes During the Market Revolution
The United States has undergone massive social, political, and economic changes since I left the nation. As a person who have been outside the country, I find it hard to believe that the country has changed significantly. The most critical transformation in the social spectrum is the ability of women to fight for equal rights (Larcom, 1889). Women in the United States were expected to stay at home and depend on their husbands. There women were not allowed to do because of the stereotype in the community. However, the enlightenment period enabled women to understand that they can perform similar tasks to men. It was surprising to see women fighting for equal rights, especially participating in politics.
Women were not allowed to take part in politics during the 1700s. By the 1800s, there were many feminist movements that advocated for gender equality women in political governance. It was also during the same period that people started to advocate against slavery. In the 1700s, many people owned slaves and it was legal. Notably, slaves never had any rights, and the people owning them believed they had the right to decide what was suitable for the people.
