Media Literacy and Culture The media is undergoing a continuous evolution in the creation of content. Much fake content is flooding in the media industry, meaning only a media literate person can know media content without any problems. I have enriched my knowledge of media literacy in different ways this semester. I acknowledge that all media messages are created using different communication media, and a media message that accompanies an image or sound is compelling because people internalize it more. I have learned to incorporate an image and sound into a company, a text to impact a message. Different people interpret the same media messages differently. Everybody has a unique way of decoding a particular message. I learned that a single media message could arouse various interpretations and set the world in a fierce debate over the same simple message. The media message is often organized using creative language, and that any media message often aims to make a profit or attain power. In media literacy, I have learned to apply stages of message evaluation to authenticate the message. The first step is to describe the kind of message, analyze and interpret, evaluate the message, and engage and add a voice to the process of shaping the cultural environment (Campbell et al. 99). This ensures that we control the media message and not vice versa.
