Creativity brings people together or breaks people apart. One of the approaches to express creativity is through photography. This form of art has been used since the 1820s. At first, it was thought of as a science that permits people to document reality. Later on, it was considered as both an art and science that are mutually exclusive (Cotterill and Coleman).
Photography leads people in pondering the artistic value even of the mediocre things. It can transform hate in to love and love to hate. Moreover, photography permits people to look with the naked eye to see a genuine or imitated reality (Wright). The interpretation of it, however, relies solely on the viewer.
One person’s eyes may see the anguish behind smiles while another person’s eyes may construe those smiles as genuine without hatred. One may look at a picture and think that it is taken aimlessly to capture various veracities or purposefully to silently reveal atrocities.
Personally, this form of art allows me to indulge myself in a different reality by making stories of my own will. It is a form of escape that allows me to move without restrictions. Within its own universe, I can make things happen through the sound of a shutter. Also, it gives me the silver lining to look at things with different perspectives for the photographer can create various cosmos which can be altered by the different angles and positions. The abandonment that I sometimes feel is alleviated by my love for photography for it offers me an opportunity to present an idea or a theme about myself that is frequently neglected by people.
